Earth Hour 2010

today..well tonight it's going to be Earth hour again and it will be the second time since that our country took part, so do remember to close the light for one Hour tonight everyone.

Bougainvillea

    The poem:To a Shrub

Is about the plant Bougainvillea,

a flower also know as

Paper flower (Bunga kertas) in Bahasa.

I analyze this poem in my university days

And why you ask I mention this poem here?

Well, it's a great poem by a local Malaysian poet,

And the sight of the flower under my Block made me

Reminiscent about this poem.

the poet, 

Describing the flower as

“What happy combination

Of the hardy and the beautiful” 

 

Beauty and hardy /tough

an unusual combination

But that is essentially what it is,

 It can survive

“Through drought and monsoon”

And it also have “conceal fierce thorns” 

but its still a flower with its beauty

when everything around is brown and yellow,

its still green lush and beautiful.

Labuan is a military base for air force and navy  so you do hear fighter jet zooming overhead some time.

once  they even landed on KML’s stadium and I was there to take some picture(2009)

“Harapan Cerah” Water Tank coming to KML

KML class of 2009/2010 see a lot of these “Harapan Cerah” Water Tank coming to KML bringing water almost every day.

Yes water has always been a problem for labuan and KML students over these few year but this year was the worst.

pump in the liquid of life (not Blood but water)

Blue-sky look great on postcard but in real life a sky without cloud is actually very hot you can almost feel your skin burn under the sun

your so hot and dry

They say the grass is always greener on the other side.well in Labuan it would be true because it is Hot and dry,

so hot that grass wither up and turn brown. We have a carpet of brown grass in our field.

Everybody, Somebody, Anybody, and Nobody (Initiative- doing the right thing at the right time without being told)

This is a story about four people named Everybody, Somebody, Anybody, and Nobody. There was an important job to be done and Everybody was sure Somebody would do it. Anybody could have done it, but Nobody did it. Somebody got angry about that because it was Everybody’s job. Everybody thought Anybody could do it, but Nobody realized that Everybody wouldn’t do it. It ended up that Everybody blamed Somebody when Nobody did what Anybody could’ve done.

kml CNY 2010 ( 6/3/2010)

CNY This year WAS not under my supervision but I must say it was a great  performance by the students I was quite surprise to see so many of the students performing are actually students that I know.I guess if I was the teacher in charge  like last year I would have been even closer with them.

compare to my CNY celebration last year I would say this year 2010 the performance was stronger in  term of the dancing  performances. I did not have any dancing performances last year( not enough time to practice) this year we see the cheongsam on KML stage which was something I always wanted but none of my students had one . This year there was a group of girls wearing them even the MC was wearing it. 

The Timbalan Pengarah ( En Kamarudin) wanted yee sung for CNY next year and KJ science En Saat ask to prepare for it next year with Tanglong festival throw in the mix as well Because there was none this year. 

it was very hard for me last year when i did the Tanglong( mooncake) festival and 2009 cny.

  The Pengarah was not very in to it  mostly because we don't have any budget given for college activities so I have a very tough time making it happen. so much so that this year 2010 I did nothing for these CNY and Moon cake festival events. 

well we still don't have much money but now the people in-charge want us to organize  these events

unlike last year so.....should i get involve and organize these events again next year???

I must say I mis the fun of organizing Chinese festival events, I got to know the students better, they get to show case their talent and they get a certificate for their hard work but truly organizing these even is stressful. especially if you are the Teacher in  charge. well I would just like to say "it Bring out the best in my students but the worst in me" I learn a lot from these activities and its fun and all but.... it just feel  that it is too much work and too little time.

we need to borrow a lot of things, transport is a problem , money is always a problem and all that work for just one night? all that time and energy for 2-3 hours of performances. Do students need this kind of extra burden? do I want it?
